After scoring 30,000 points, Kobe Bryant is now become only the fifth player to reach the 30,000 point mark in NBA history. He scored his 30,000th point at the age of 34 which makes him the youngest to achieve this milestone. Ironically, the points came against the New Orleans Hornets, a team that originally picked him in the NBA draft but traded his rights to the Lakers before he played even a single game for them. With this achievement, now he joins an extremely exclusive club of those players who scored at least 30,000 points in their career. Let’s find out who are other members of this club.

    Wilt Chamberlain

Wilt Chamberlain was the first and the quickest (both in terms of seasons and games played) to break the 30, 000 point barrier as he hit the mark in 13th season and 941th games of his career. He was also the youngest to score 30,000 before Kobe Bryant surpassed him.

    Kareem Abdul Jabbar

Kareem Abdul Jabbar not only crossed the 30,000 points mark but he went way beyound it and scored 38, 387 points more than anyone else in NBA history. It took him 15 seasons, 1,101 games and 36 years of age to reach the 30,000 career points plateau.

    Karl Malone

Like Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Karl Malone was also 36 years old and in his 15th season when he scored his 30,000th point. He fininshed his career with 36,928 points, behind only by Kareem Adul Jabbar.

    Michael Jordan

Surprisingly, all the members of this elite club have played for the Lakers at some point of their career except for Michael Jordan who played throughout his career with the Bulls. Michael Jordan made 30,000th point in just 960th game of his career but at the age of 38 because of his premature retirement.

There is  a speculation that if Kobe Bryant plays four more seasons in NBA with the same average which he currently has (25.4 points per game), then he is likely to eclipse the scoring records of both Karl Malone and Kareem Abdul Jabbar.
