2012 London Olympics: USA Men’s Basketball Team Schedule
The 2012 Olympics Men’s Basketball tournament is scheduled to start on Sunday, July 29. Six games will be played each day of the preliminary round. The Overall format is exactly the same as applied in preceding Olympics- 12 qualified teams, 2 preliminary round groups and 6 teams in each group. The teams with best record will proceed to the next level, the quarterfinals. The top four teams will play semifinals while the best two teams from the semifinals will go to the finals, for a gold medal game. Remaining two teams will play for bronze medal.
USA basketball team is in group A. The other teams in this group are France, Argentina, Tunisia and two more teams which are determined through FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament . USA team will play its first game on 29 July, against France. After that, the team will play four more games in the preliminary round. The performance in this initial round will decide whether the team USA will find a place in the quarterfinals or not. The gold medal game will take place on August, 12.
