    We have compiled a list of some interesting records from FIBA World Championships.

     Argentina and Brazil hosted FIBA world championship 2 times  each.

     In 1896, the FIBA world championship was held in Spain, where 7 venues were used for the competition. (Madrid, Barcelona,  Zaragoza, Ferrol, Malaga, Tenerife and Oviedo)

     United States won 4 gold medals in FIBA World Championship, most by any team.

     United States had won 11 medals in FIBA world championship.

     United States appeared 7 times in the finals of the championship.

    In 1974, Soviet Union beat Central Africa Republic with the biggest win margin of 92 points.match result (140-48)

     Egypt vs Brazil 19-38 , 195o championship

    United State holds the record of longest winning streak, 15 consecutive wins from preliminary round of 1954 championship to final round of 1959 world championship.

    Jae Hur from Korea earned 62 points in a game against Egypt in 1990 championship.

    Nicos Gallis from Greece is the all-time leading scorer in a single championship,made 337 points in 10 games of 1986 FIBA world championship.

    Brazilian player Oscar Schmidt is all-time leading scorer, earned 916 points  in 35 games from 1978-1990.

    Ubiratan Pereira Maciel and Marcel De Souza from Brazil and Australian Phil Smyth have appeared in five championships.

    Brazilian player Ubiratan Pereira Maciel participated in 41 games.

    Bartolomeo Diaz from Angola and Tiago Splitter from Brazil both appeared at the age of 17 in 1986 and 2002 championship respectively.

    A Puerto Rican player Jose Piculin Ortiz was the oldest player to participate in 2002 championshinp at the age of 38.

    2.29 m tall Yao Ming from China was the tallest player  participated in 2002 championship.

    American player Tyrone Bounges with the height of 1.59 m, was the shortest player appeared in 1986 FIBA world championship.
