The 2012-13 regular season is approaching to the end and with each passing day debate over 2012-13 NBA Most Valuable Player is heating up. Initially there were only two real contenders for MVP Award but now few more candidates are knocking on the door.

Let’s have a look at all the top contenders for this season’s MVP.

    LeBron James

LeBron James continues to hold the no 1 spot in terms of top MVP contenders. If you look into all his stats, you will amaze to see how dominant he has been in the 2012-13 season and moreover, how heavily he has been contributing to his team’s success.

Without any doubt, LeBron James is having an exceptional scoring run in this season, scoring minimum 20 points in straight 33 games (along with 30 point and 60 percentage shooting streak) is something out of this world. Both in individual and team performances (also popularity), he is slightly ahead of Kevin Durant, the other tough contender in the race of MVP. As of Friday, LeBron James notched his 30th double double of the season and helped Miami Heat in stretching its winning streak to 17th consecutive win.

    Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is having the best season of  his career particularly from an offensive perspective . He is currently leading the league in scoring with 28.5 points per game and he seems to be well on his way to win his fourth scoring title. After 62 games, he is shooting 50.6 from the field, 41.8 from three-point range and 91.0 from free throw line. If he continues to shoot like this for the rest of the season, he could become a member of elite 50-40-90 club.

    Chris Paul

Chris Paul is not front runner in the race for the 2012-13 NBA MVP but definitely he deserves to be mentioned. While all the attention has been focused on either LeBron James and Kevin Durant, Chris Paul and his team Los Angeles Clippers are quietly doing their job. He is currently leading the league in steals (2.38 steals per game) and second best in assists (9.5 assists per game), While his team Clippers are standing third in Western Conference with 44 wins (including 17 game winning streak in first half of the season).
