The 50-40-90 club is the ultimate benchmark for a shooter in NBA. Only those players are considered the members of this ultra exclusive club who shoot at least 50 percent from the field, 40 percent from three point range and 90 percent from free throw line throughout a single season (along with minimum requirement set by NBA in terms of number of free throws made, three pointers made and field goals made). Only five players have been able to join this elite fraternity since 1979-80 season, when three pointer was introduced in NBA. Let’s have a look at each member of this club

    Steve Nash

There are only 9 occasions in NBA history when a player finished a regular season with at least 50-40-90 shooting percentage and four of those belong to Steve Nash. His first shooting performance came in 2005-06 season and other three in 2007-08, 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons. He could have made five in a row if he had not fall short of 90% free throw shooting in 2006-07 season.

    Larry Bird

Larry Bird is the only other player besides Steve Nash to reach this mark at least twice in a career. He did it back to back in 1986-87 and 1987-88 seasons while scoring 28.5 and 29.9 points per game respectively. His 29.9 season scoring average is the best in all 50-40-90 shooting seasons.

    Mark Price

Mark Price was one of the most prolific shooters in NBA history. In 1988-89 season, he strung together 53, 44 and 90 shooting percentages and made his way into the elite club.

    Reggie Miller

Reggie Miller became a member of 50-40-90 club during 1993-94 season.

    Dirk Nowitzki

Dirk Nowitzki achieved this feat in 2006-07 season. He is the only player of this club who was named Most Valuable Player in the same season. Dirk and Larry Bird are the only two player who scored at least 20 points per game in their 50-40-90 shooting seasons.

Jeff Hornacek, Jose Calderon, Steve Kerr and Mario Elie are those players who could not make it to the club as they failed to meet one or two requirements  .
